Premier League Shareholders’ Meeting on 2019/20 Season Resumption

The Premier League Shareholders had another meeting in which all clubs have committed to resume the season at some future point.

There had been talk of setting a deadline of June 30th to restart the campaign, but members thought this unwise and have decided instead to work on various scheduling models.

“In common with other businesses and industries, the Premier League and our clubs are working through complex planning scenarios.”

“Today’s shareholders’ meeting provided an opportunity to discuss possible scheduling models. It remains our objective to complete the 2019-20 season but at this stage all dates are tentative while the impact of Covid-19 develops.”

The UK government has given the Premier League the green light to start contingency planning but ultimately any resumption of games will be subject to govt approval.

The next big news on this will come after a meeting of UEFA next week with talk of the season ending with the Champions League final on August 29th. The Premier League will meet again on the 1st of May.
