Premier League Returns: A look at our remaining fixtures and what records we can break!

As the Premier League returns tonight with a draw between Sheffield United and Aston Villa and win for Man City against Arsenal, we take a look at our remaining Premier League fixtures, what we need from here to secure the title and what records we can break along the way.

What now for the title?

Six Points. Basically. No matter what Man City do Liverpool just need 6 points out of a possible 27. This can be wrapped up by beating Everton on Sunday the 21st of June and beating Palace on Wednesday the 24th. Failing that, then we will just have to sort it out at the Etihad on July 2nd. Plenty of scope for celebration! Here’s a look at our remaining Premier League fixtures:

What Premier League records can Liverpool break?

Most points in a Premier League season: In the 2017-2018 Premier League season Man City broke the record by amassing 100 points, becoming the first ever Premier League centurions. Liverpool currently have 82 points and would need to take 18 points from the final 27 to tie that record. 19 points would break the record and provide endless banter ammunition for Liverpool fans. We can afford to drop 8 points from our final 9 games to reach immortality. Just tell any Man Utd fan that this Liverpool team is better than any previous Man Utd title winning team and the points prove it beyond doubt, then sit back and watch them spontaneously combust.

Most Wins in a Premier League season: Man City again hold the record for most wins in a Premier League season having amassed 32 wins in both 17-18 and 18-19. Liverpool, who have 27 wins this season, will need 5 wins to tie with this and 6 wins to break it.

Premier League win by the most points: Surprise, surprise Man City also hold this one having won the 17-18 title by 19 points. Liverpool are currently 22 points ahead of City so this one is also up for grabs!

What this all shows is what an astonishing job Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool players have done. They didn’t bring a financially doped Man City side down to their level in order to beat them, but they moved up to an hitherto unforeseen level of football in England and are on course to smash Man City’s seemingly insurmountable records. A fantastic effort.
