Brendan Rodgers would pull off somewhat of a coupe when he managed to prise James Milner away from a reluctant Manchester City on a free transfer in the summer of 2015. Rodgers would immediately make the hugely experienced and reliable James Milner vice captain and he would go on to be a very important part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad making tons of appearances both as a full back and a midfield player.
Liverpool’s penalty taker, Milner has over 500 Premier League appearances under his belt and has finally secured another major trophy winning the 2019 Champions League with the Redmen. He is currently on the last year of his contract and the calls are growing for Liverpool to extend – we’d expect at least a one year extension to be offered to James Milner as he seems to be getting better with age!
