Name: Adam Lallana
Number: 20
Position: Midfielder
Born: St Albans, England – 10/05/88
When Liverpool signed Southampton captain Adam Lallana shortly after he had returned from the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, They were lucky to have the talented playmaker on the team.
Lallana’s first season ( 2014-2015) was delayed until September with injury but when he did start – he displayed some silky skills and scored his first goal against West Bromwich Albion at Anfield. Lallana made 41 appearances in his debut season for the club.
Lallana’s
performances improved dramatically when Jürgen Klopp became the new
manager, in the 2015-16 campaign.
The England international
fitted in really well to Kloop’s style of high pressing football
and scored the winner in a thrilling game against Norwich City in
January 2016. He also scored the third goal in the semi final of the
Europa League against Villarreal to secure a place in the Basel final
.
Lallana continued to improve the following season and
subsequently secured a new contract in February 2017.
Unfortunately
he was injured in the 2017-2018 season and made only 15 appearances.
He would, however, come on for Mo Salah after 30 minutes in the
Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev. As Lallana
always looked to have the key skills and suited the Liverpool style
of play he maintained the faith of the manager and repaid this on
March 2019 with the man of the match award in the 4-2 victory over
Burnley .
Lallana earned his first trophy with Liverpool after the Champions League final victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid.
