Reds Come Through Tight Game To Win 2-1 Yet Again!
Liverpool’s relentless charge towards the Premier League Title continued last night as another late goal secured yet another win for the Redmen. It’s the 8th time that Liverpool have won 2-1 in this Premier League campaign. It almost seems that no matter how they play, they will find a way to win. They are now back to 16 points clear with a game in hand having won 22 of their 23 Premier League games this season, and going back into last season they have won 31 of 32 games, drawing just 1. 94 points out of a possible 96! This is unprecedented form, never seen before in any of Europe’s top five leagues, this truly is a special Liverpool side.
The amazing numbers just keep on coming, they have now extended their unbeaten run to 40 Premier League games and if they go unbeaten for another 8 games then they can match Arsenal’s record of 49 games unbeaten by avoiding defeat at the Etihad Stadium, if they happen to win all those games, then they would guarantee the Premier League title too!

Back to the game, Liverpool started reasonably well and took the lead on eight minutes through Jordan Henderson. An attempted header from a corner hit his shoulder and flew into the Wolves goal, 1-0. Liverpool played pretty well and were the better team generally in the first half where they created multiple openings but couldn’t quite put the game to bed.
Six minutes into the second half Raul Jimenez headed the ball down to Adama Traore on Liverpool’s right who played a nice deep cross which Jimenez met nicely in the box to header home and give Wolves their equaliser. After this Wolves started to dominate the game and it was looking like this might be the one where Liverpool’s 13 game winning streak might come to an end – the Liverpool players looked quite tired and without Sadio Mane, taken off with a possible hamstring tweak early in the game, they lacked a little on the break.
Wolves kept the pitch very big in this period and they passed the ball around nicely if fairly conservatively, this was working though as Liverpool ended up having to chase the ball a lot. It wasn’t looking good for the Reds but this team’s mentality is made of solid steel and they have the ability on the attack to cut teams open at will, even when they are not playing so well, and that is what they did. Liverpool carved Wolves open and Bobby Firmino missed a great chance to put Liverpool back in control. Was it going to be one of those games? Well, no, of course not. Within a minute of Bobby’s first chance he had another, some nice skill from Mo Salah on the edge of the Wolves box and the ball broke for Jordan Henderson, he played a lovely disguised pass to Firmino who fainted around former Liverpool player Conor Coady to bend the ball home and give Liverpool yet another close, but impressive, win.
The Red Machine marches on and Liverpool are now just 9 wins away from guaranteeing the Premier League title.
