Match Report – Liverpool 4-0 Crystal Palace

Liverpool tonight are within an ace of securing the Premier League title after a superb performance was plenty to dispatch Crystal Palace at Anfield. Liverpool are so close now that anything but a Man City win against Chelsea tomorrow night at Stamford Bridge would leave them champions of England once again!

The Reds were much better tonight after a flat performance against Everton on Sunday. TAA opened the scoring with a superbly struck freekick before Mo Salah put the Redmen 2-0 up before half time. The Reds came out in a much more positive frame of mind tonight, they were closing Palace down aggressively and in numbers from the get go and after Palace lost Zaha to injury early on it was not looking good for the Eagles.

Having gone in 2 goals ahead at half time Liverpool were positively swarming all over a pretty overwhelmed looking Crystal Palace side. The Reds created plenty of chances before the ball arrived centrally to Fabinho about 25-30 yards out, about 10 minutes after the restart. He touched the ball out of his feet before smashing it home in what was almost a carbon copy of his goal against Man City earlier in the season. Mane then made it 4 after linking up beautifully with Firmino and Salah.

City will have to beat Chelsea tomorrow to make Liverpool wait, otherwise it will be a guard of honour at the Etihad a week later. If City do manage to win then the Reds will need a point in that game to wrap up the Championship.
