Match Preview: Liverpool FC Vs Crystal Palace – Team news and previews

Liverpool can take another huge step towards the Premier League title with a win against Crystal Palace on Wednesday at their first game back at Anfield since the Coronavirus crisis.

The Reds will be without James Milner and Joel Matip after Jurgen Klopp ruled them out in his pre-match press conference (video below). Mohammed Salah and Andy Robertson, however, will be back in contention for a return to the starting lineup.

If Liverpool can secure their 28th win of the season then just a draw in their following game away to Manchester City would secure the Premier League trophy (assuming City can beat Chelsea on Thursday). So this game is important with an unpredictable virus still lurking in the background and casting doubt over most things, including football. Klopp will have that in mind and will hopefully go full strength and all out to pick up 3 huge points here.

Crystal Palace

After an impressive 2-0 win away to Bournemouth on Saturday Palace have now won their last 4 Premier League games. Roy Hodgson has done a good job there at a club that suits him. Liverpool have won their last 5 games against the Eagles but, amazingly, Palace have taken 3 points away from Anfield 3 times in a row in the 14-15, 15-16, and 16-17 Premier League seasons.

Liverpool

The Reds are unbeaten at home in the Premier League since a 2-1 defeat to Palace in 2017 (55 games). They are also on a record 22 game winning run at home. Liverpool were somewhat lacklustre in their 1-1 draw at Goodison Park but that is understandable having not played a game for over 3 months. Here’s hoping they are right up for this one and can get back to winning ways in order to secure the title and put that nightmare 3-3 draw against Palace in the 2014 season firmly to bed.
