Liverpool Fans Break Silence and the Timing is Perfect

Throughout most of Liverpool’s 2013/2014 and 2018/2019 title chases an excited Anfield would ring out to the sound of ‘And now you’re gonna believe us, We’re gonna win the League’, but the song was sung more in hope and defiance, than in expectation. The Reds just fell short on both occasions, but this time it’s different. The Kop has remained much more circumspect and the song has not been sung at all this season. The fans attitude seems to be more in sync with the team’s this time around. Klopp and the team’s attitude this year is that nothing is won until it’s won, and rightly so really. You’ve got to go out there and do it and talking about it is cheap.

So the fans have kept quiet and concentrated on the next game only, perfectly inline with the team and the manager.. Until now. When Mo Salah broke clear late on against Man Utd on Sunday the crowd held its breath, the Egyptian showed great strength in holding off United’s Dan James to coolly slot past David DeGea and they duly went mental, it was some part celebration and part relief. When the goal went in Liverpool had defeated their greatest rivals and secured another massive 3 points and another huge step towards the Premier League holy grail.

SALAH SEALS DEAL AGAINST UNITED

After the crowd cheered the Anfield announcer’s confirmation of the goal scorer, Mo Salah, small sections broke out in song “We’re Gonna win the league, we’re gonna win the league”. This rapidly spread around the ground and within seconds the entire Anfield faithful were belting it out around the ground, even Carragher was singing it in the commentary box! It was a great moment and it feels like it was very well timed, the idea was not to sing it until it was done, and quite frankly, it is! Have a beer if you are so inclined and toast the Premier League Champions, as there is not a chance in hell of this Liverpool side messing it up from here.
