Liverpool Big Guns Return For Merseyside Derby

Liverpool FC are back in action in the Premier League today after their humbling defeat at Aston Villa last time out. The Reds will make the short hop across Stanley Park to take on Everton at Goodison Park.

Thankfully the Reds have some serious players returning from injury that should help them move on quickly from the 7-2 Villa disaster.

Captain Jordan Henderson is available for selection again and Liverpool almost always miss his leadership when he can’t play. Henderson is constantly organising on the pitch and his energy is contagious throughout the squad. His influence is proved by a much greater win rate for the Reds when he is in the side.

Joel Matip is also back from injury and Klopp could very well throw him straight back into the side as Joe Gomez has been struggling to find form for a while now.

Thiago Alcantara returns after self isolating with a Coronavirus infection and his class in midfield could make a difference for this Liverpool squad, at some point, today.

Sadio Mane, another Coronavirus isolator, returns to the fold and will almost certainly go straight into the team. Liverpool are not the same team without Mane in it and Jurgen Klopp will be delighted and relieved to have his main man back. Expect Mane to be raring to go today after his comments following the Villa defeat.

Elsewhere, there is no new info on goalkeeper Alisson’s return and Naby Kieta will also miss out.
